Silla Black, a Burlesque Artist and retired Exotic Dancer from Sydney will be a judge for the second year running at the Miss Firm Australia Grand Final in South Australia next week. It is Australia's largest competition and has a $10,000 cash prize. As an esteemed judge, Silla must set the standard and she desired a gown with 10,000 crystals.
And we said yes!
Silla wanted a white lace gown which showed off her height and curves and which was designed around a large, opulent crystal motif she had found on her travels through Dubai last year. There are many beautiful laces in the world but it is difficult to find a stretch, white lace that doesn't appear cheap or tacky. We were able to track down a luxurious fabric at Tessuti Fabrics in Sydney. The lace is soft as a dove to touch and it has a floral design and a soft scalloped edge. We did not seek out a lining as Silla plans to wear it 'au naturale' with a few extra well-placed crystals.
We took her measurements and created the gown. After a fitting we embellished it with an array of clear and AB, Swarovski & DMC crystals; in sizes ss10, ss12 and ss20. Most of them are hotfix flatback stones. The final detailing was done by hand with E6000 glue and a Crystal Ninja application tool which we plan to retail before long.
